Matthews, Gold, Kennedy & Snow, Inc. has been providing full-service employer sponsored retirement plan administration and consulting since 2000. Our firm began in 1980 under the name of Matthews and Associates. Over the years, our firm has experienced several name changes, but our commitment to providing quality, timely and professional services has not been altered. We assist employers in the design, implementation, administration and communication of a wide range of retirement plans. STEVEN R. MATTHEWS, E.A., A.S.A., M.A.A.A., M.S.P.A.

Steven Matthews has been a consulting Actuary in the greater Phoenix area since 1974. During that time, he has been involved in the design and implementation of defined benefit plans, profit sharing plans, non-qualified deferred compensation programs, employee stock ownership plans, and cash balance plans. Steve Matthews is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Member of the Conference of Actuaries in Public Practice, a Member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries. Steve Matthews is also an Enrolled Actuary with the Joint Board and is qualified to represent taxpayers in front of the IRS on Pension related matters.

ALAN GOLD, CPA

Alan Gold has been providing customized employee benefits administration and consulting services for over twenty years. Mr. Gold is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, and the Arizona Society of CPA’s. He is a Past President, and current board member of the Arizona chapter of the National Institute of Pension Administrators. Prior to establishing a specialized practice in employee benefits, Mr. Gold was associated with a Big Eight accounting firm and is recognized as a technical expert in the defined contribution area.

Sharon Kennedy has been providing benefits administration and specialized consulting services since 1976. Ms. Kennedy is a member of the National Institute of Pension Administrators and holds the Accredited Pension Administrator designation. She has served on the Education Committee for the National Institute of Pension Administrators, assisting in the writing of exam and study materials. Ms. Kennedy is also a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries holding the Qualified Pension Administrator designation.

Russ Snow has been designing, administering and consulting on employee benefits programs since 1989. Mr. Snow is a member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries and is an Enrolled Actuary and Certified Pension Consultant. He has taught various seminar classes and specializes in Defined Benefit and other Age-related plans, plan terminations, and the technical language required for drafting and amending retirement plan documents.

Henry DeSpain has been working with pension and profit sharing plans since 1991. He has worked with many types of retirement plans including defined benefit, profit sharing, 401(k), 412(i), money purchase, target benefit and cross-tested, age weighted design features. He is a member of the National Institute of Pension Administrators and holds the Accredited Pension Administrator designation. In addition, he served as the NIPA Exam Committee Chairman for the defined benefit and hybrid plans exam for over 6 years and as the secretary/treasurer for the Arizona NIPA Chapter.

Cory Reynolds has a B.S. in Business Administration from Central Washington University and an MBA from Arizona State University. He has worked for Matthews, Gold, Kennedy & Snow, Inc. since 2001 and has twelve years of experience in pension administration. Cory has earned his Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) designation from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries.

Sherry Salzman joined Matthews, Gold, Kennedy & Snow, Inc. In 2000 and has worked in the retirement services industry since 1986. Her credentials include the designation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans as well as the designations of Qualified Pension Administrator and Qualified 401(k) Administrator from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. She also holds a Fellow of Life Management Institute designation through LOMA.

STARGRET THOMPSON
Manager Defined Contribution Plans

Stargret Thompson came to Matthews, Gold, Kennedy & Snow, Inc. in 2001 bringing with her over 15 years of pension administration experience. She has spent the last 10 years managing defined contribution plans in a third party administration environment.

Professional Staff

We have a staff of over 20 plan administrators to service our clients. The administrators interface with clients and advisors on day-to-day plan administration issues and prepare plan reports. We also have a dedicated loan and distribution processing team as well as plan document and new business conversion specialists.
